Vitaleta Chapel
The peculiarity of this chapel is certainly its location in the middle of the hills of the Val d'Orcia. It is therefore reminiscent of an oasis in the desert and provides a fascinating at at glance. Originally its fame was due to the presence of the sculpture of the Virgin by Andrea della Robbia; now this church is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The main facade is covered with Rapolano stone and the top of the building is characterized by a pediment (triangular frame used mainly in Greek temples) and a tympanum (the surface enclosed in the pediment). From the back of the church there is a bell tower with two adjoining bell cells with a round arch.
