Necropolis of Portone
In the Necropolis of Portone there are visible two underground tombs dating back to the period III-I century BC. The first tomb is accessed via a long dromos (open-air corridor leading to the entrance of a burial ground or tomb) which, with a double flight of stairs, descends deeply into the ground. The tomb has a single large circular room with a large pillar of tuff in the center. Around the wall there is a large funeral platform, also semicircular. The second tomb also descends deeply into the ground with a double flight of stairs access dromos, until you reach a large square vestibule on which there are four funerary chambers with platforms for the deposition of funerary urns.
